General Information

Culinaria Cooking School specializes in two cooking class formats.

Demonstration

Students sit back and enjoy watching one of our chefs prepare a multi-course meal. Wine is served to you and your party during the class. The chef will prepare each course for you to savor and enjoy, as he or she explains the ingredients and techniques used.

Upon your arrival, Culinaria provides recipes to our students, and throughout the class encourage you to ask questions and interact with the chef to gain an increased knowledge of professional culinary techniques and practices. Demonstration classes are ideal date nights, special birthday celebrations, and unique evenings out.  (Please see our wine policy in the wine section)

Participation
This class format is a hands-on experience. You will be provided with an initial demonstration of the menu, along with step-by step instructions from your chef. He or she will move throughout the classroom, providing advice and helping with techniques to guide you through a self-prepared, professional, multi-course meal. In general, wine will be served with the meal.

Students will then enjoy the fruits of their labor and take away a unique understanding and appreciation for professional culinary techniques. Participation classes are great for networking, double dates, couples, and an entertaining evening out.

Wine

While wine can be a very big subject — covering history, geography, agriculture, culture, economics, and merchandising — at Culinaria we bring it to its simplest form.

Wine is a fermented beverage made from grapes enjoyed with friends and usually over a meal and warm conversation. It is our goal to deconstruct the myth and mysteries and simplify the perception of wine.  When the subject is broken down by region, country, or grape varietal, the platform for learning and enjoyment is effortlessly achieved.

For beginners, our introductory class, "Back to Basics," is the best place to start. As you move on to more advanced classes, the discussion and tastings involve more complex wines, and students will begin to appreciate different styles of wines from regions around the world.

If you are a novice just starting out in the kitchen, or an experienced home cook who would like to hone the skills you already have, Culinaria is just what you've been looking for in the greater-Washington metro area.  The options are many, the menus diverse, and the fun is endless.
