Mary Ateya

I was born and raised in Cairo Egypt, and, as a child, spent all of my holidays in Alexandria by the Mediterranean sea. It was there that I developed my passion for cooking and learning new recipes. My family immigrated to the United States over 30 years ago. Initially, we lived in Northern Virginia.

When I married, my husband and I moved to Southern Maryland where my children attended local schools and I began hosting their bake sales. In 2012, my dream of sharing my passion became a reality when I was offered an opportunity to teach cooking classes in at Quality Street Kitchen & Catering in Maryland. I also have taught summer camp for teens and children at the local community college. I have worked as a substitute teacher since 2014 and was very excited to be offered a long-term assignment in the Culinary Arts program. I specialize in Egyptian/Mediterranean food which is both nutritious and delicious. I look forward to sharing my passion and cooking skills with you.
